Denial and shock help us to cope
and make survival possible.
Denial helps us to pace our feelings of grief.
There is a grace in denial.
It is nature’s way of letting in
only as much as we can handle.
David Kessler & Elisabeth Kübler- Ross
This is a process.
I am taking baby steps.
Each day takes on it's own tone.
I'm alright with that.
I am being gentle with myself.

What a wonderful quote! I guess when I think Suzie is in Paris...that's denial....and I guess it's okay....for a time.
Thank you Cheryl.
Hi Cheryl, Grief moves at it own speed, it's an individual thing, it different for everyone. For awhile I kept thinking Dave was going to come back. It's been over a year and I still have a hard time some days. Treat yourself very gently and be good to yourself too. Take all the time you need. Blessing, Sandy:O)
Oh Cheryl, my heart breaks for you. The pain of grief is indescribable and immeasurable. You never, ever recover from it; you learn, in time, how to carry it differently. xoxo
Hello Cheryl:
Everyone moves through traumas in their life at a different pace and you must listen to your own body to know how you can proceed. With each day, we are certain that the grief, the longing, the pain will still remain but will change as time heals and restores. Take the greatest of care of yourself, treat yourself kindly and let each day carry you along as you wish.
Take your time. Each new thing, each change, and each "first" has to be felt. I read a lot and took a lot of walks. Then after several months had gone by, I saw a recipe for a pie that looked good to me. So I baked the pie and gave it away, and that is when I started to feel a little better.
Excellent!
Since my mother has taken up residence in heaven I have learned that there is a difference between: mourning & grieving, weeping & wailing, and sadness and heartbreak. I am lifting you up in prayer as you go thru the many stages of grieving for your husband that you loved so well.
Hello Cheryl,
How nice to hear that you are being gentle on yourself.
I know that is what you deserve. If I lived nearby, I would be a kind a gentle friend, but I will do this from afar -
I need to e-mail you for your address -

Oh Cheryl, I am crying right now for you. I am grieved that I didn't know about your precious husband. YouR beautiful posts are such a tribute to him and the love you had for each other.
I too am in denial. Or maybe so overwhelmed (you'll read later) that I'm it even there yet. That's why I haven't been around...
